

Paula (MtJoy) Huff was born on October 1, 1943. She grew up in Carmichaels Pennsylvania where she helped take care of her younger siblings until the age of 20. In 1963 she joined the Army and was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. Her military career spanned from 1963-1966 where she served in the WRAMC Psychiatric Unit and was able care for many of the personnel returning from Vietnam. She remained in Washington DC after her service and worked for American Airlines as a reservationist until 1976. On October 2, 1971 she married Jacob Richard Huff of Brooklyn New York and they purchased a home and remained in Washington, DC. She had a son, Jason, in December of 1975 and a daughter, Jessica, in June of 1977. After working for American Airlines she took up full time homemaking as well as becoming a full time craft maker. She reveled in making a variety of creations, including porcelain dolls, intricate costumes, and various plush dolls and animals. In 1997 she was widowed but continued her pursuits while struggling with Parkinson’s disease. She remained in the same home in Washington, DC from 1971 until her death on January 27, 2011.
