

On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, of Washington, DC peacefully passed away at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland with her family at her side. Born in Boston, MA, daughter of Solomon H. Rubin, MD and Henrietta Sydeman Rubin of Boston. She was wife of Carl Silverman, MD (deceased 1993), mother of Carol Lieberman (Jim) of Potomac and Bill Silverman (Bonnie Holcomb) of Bethesda, grandmother of Alyssa Hall Morris (David) of San Rafael, CA, Seth Hall (Stephanie) of Wynnewood, PA and Braden Silverman (Molly) of Delray Beach, FL, and great-grandmother of Logan Hall, Carly Morris, Addison Hall, Phoebe Morris and Landon Hall.
Rhoda grew up in Brookline, MA and received a BA degree in 1939 from Wheaton College, Norton, MA. She was a 70-year resident of Washington, DC, member of Washington Hebrew Congregation and Woodmont Country Club. She was a consummate volunteer – serving the Red Cross, Washington Hospital Center and Sibley Hospitals – braille translator, Cub Scout leader, pianist; expert at Scrabble, bridge, crossword puzzles, canasta and mah jong; highly regarded for creating exquisite needlework and the finest sugar cookies. Private burial in care of Joseph Gawler’s Sons. Memorial service to be arranged for June 2017.
