On October 24th, the Washington community lost Tom Marmet, beloved son of Roger and Betsy and brother of Sally Marmet. Tom was shot and killed by a stray bullet while driving his car in the District of Columbia. Tom was doing what he loved, volunteering at So Others Might Eat, a community-based organization that helps the poor and homeless in DC. Tom was an exceptional and compassionate human being who modeled integrity, respect, and care for others.
Tom was a 2014 graduate of Maret School, and recently graduated with Honors from the University of Vermont. He was a loyal and dependable friend who was committed to a life of service and nonviolence and making the world a better place. Tom is also survived by his devoted grandparents Sandy and Sally Thomson, his loving aunts and uncles and twelve cousins. Tom will be missed by all who knew him, but never forgotten.
A Memorial Service honoring his life will be held at St Albans Church, 3001 Wisconsin Avenue, Washington DC 20016 at 2:00 p.m. on Monday October 29th. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Tom’s honor to So Others Might Eat or Everytown For Gun Safety.
