It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Mitchell Minshew, who peacefully left us on August 26, 2025, with family by her side. Born on August 31, 1934, in Takoma Park, Maryland, Sally was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and a dedicated social worker who touched the lives of countless individuals through her compassion and devotion to helping others.
Sally was married to Roy Minshew, Jr. in 1962, and together they built a life full of love and dedication to their family. She was a proud mother to four children—Elizabeth Page Pratt, Roy Minshew III, Philip Minshew and Nicholas Minshew. Sally was also a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering support.
Raised in Washington, D.C., Sally always had a passion for helping others. Her professional life was devoted to the field of social work, where she worked tirelessly to help many families navigate the adoption process and find homes for children in need. Her work was a reflection of her deep sense of compassion and commitment to making the world a better place, one family at a time.
Sally’s legacy of kindness, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Sally is survived by her husband Roy, her children Elizabeth Page Pratt, Philip Minshew, and Nicholas Minshew, and her seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Roy Minshew III. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Washington D.C., where family and friends will gather to honor her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Sally’s memory.
May she rest in peace, knowing that her work and love continue to live on in the lives of those she so deeply cared for.
