Walter Marion Scott III passed away peacefully at his home in Round Hill, Va. on Wednesday morning 1/11/2023. Walter was born in Danville, VA 2/23/1937 and lived his early years on his Grandfather’s tobacco farm in Somora, North Carolina. His parents, Walter Marion Scott II and Mary Taylor Scott moved to DC where Walter went to Eastern High School. After receiving a full scholarship to Chicago University, where he met many life long friends, he met Linda Jean VanOrmer and they married on 1/29/1960. He joined the army during a peacetime draft and spent two years in Georgia. After a long career in the computer industry, and many years working in the federal government living in DC, he moved to a small farm in Virginia in 2010 where he fulfilled his childhood dreams of growing his own food like his grandfather. Walter was a kind and decent human full of love. He is survived by his only daughter, Miranda Alice Scott. A reception will be held at the family home located at 20678 Furr Road, Round Hill, VA 20141 on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm.
