John J. Delaney

John J. Delaney of Washingtonville, NY entered into rest on November 23, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital in Newburgh, NY. He was 89. John was born in New York City, NY on July 21, 1923 to Catherine (Barry) and Martin Delaney. He was the loving husband of Gloria (Macchietto) Delaney for 65 years, whom he married on June 28, 1947 in the Bronx, NY.

John was Postal Clerk in New York City. He was a loyal Yankee, Giants fan and season ticket holder. John was an avid sports fan and was active in local sports with his granchilren. He was well know in the village and had many friends. John was a WWII Navy Veteran who served as an arial gunner from 1942-1945. He loved his family and his grandkids were his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife Gloria Delaney of Washingtonville, NY; his daughters, Cathy and husband Jeff Felter and Patti and husband Phil Ludewig; brother, Raymond Delaney; Grandchildren, Nick Ludewig and his wife JoEllen, Kim Ludewig, Andy Ludewig and Christopher Romano. Visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, Washingtonville, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, November 27, 10am at St. Mary’s Church, Washingtonville, NY. Burial will immediately follow at 11:30am in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
