

He was born October 19, 1917 in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn to Thomas and Lodislava Jakubiak Kopiecki. Joseph was the widower of Helen Gorczynska Kopiecki.
Joseph was a member of the Polish Army fighting for the Americans during World War II. A member of the VFW Post 8691 of Washingtonville, Joseph worked for Domino Sugar for 30 years retiring as a Sugar Boiler. Joseph loved gardening. Joseph was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his children: Michael T. Kopiecki of Washingtonville, NY, Maryann Skelly of Huntersville, NC, Francis and her husband, Ken Richardson of Southhampton, NJ and Janine and her husband, Ldzistaw Nawrocki of Kleczew, Poland; sister, Sophie Nowak also of Kleczew, Poland; seven grandchildren: Stephen Kopiecki and his companion, Kristen Vetrero, Katherine and Michael Kopiecki, Todd and Katherine Skelly, Jim and his wife, Kristen Skelly, Marianne and her husband, Denny Berger, Kenneth and his wife, Sue Richardson, also many great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and John Kopiecki.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, Washingtonville, NY. A Service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home with the Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery of Washingtonville.
