Paul you so belong on  Earth telling everyone your thoughts on life.

So sorry to hear of Paulie passing away. Rest in peace.  Memories of days gone by.  Family and friends who gathered at the  big White House on the hill to dine at Pina’s restaurant.   He loved showing us the animals on the farm. My parents Joe and Carol Zazzera took us there every summer.   My sister Marianne and I visited not long ago to say hi and Paulie was so gracious.   We met at Goshen to visit the track  and sat with him in his box to enjoy the races.   He was at his happy place.   Love and prayers to all who were part of his life.

I am kind of sad that the obituary doesn't mention what an amazing teacher Mr. Ferrari was.  He was my 5th grade teacher and I went through some health issues during my year with him and he always made sure I was okay.  He also alleviated a bullying situation as best he could.  He was always kind, compassionate and did everything he could to make learning fun!! I will forever be grateful for him and the light he brought into our lives!! Such a great man! May he rest in peace!! My condolences to his family, friends and other students mourning his loss.

JP  reached out to me by phone over the summer to catch up. We spoke at some length, even though we hadn’t had any personal contact for about 55 years! We were fraternity brothers at New Paltz (1966-1970,), he was one year ahead of me and we were not particularly close at the time. I remember him though as an easy-going guy, always wearing a knowing smile.  Indeed, if I’m not mistaken, I believe he was even elected President of the Fraternity. I can still see him in his white Toppers  sweater!
JP never mentioned any health issues when we spoke, his  sense of humor and valuable insights certainly seemed intact, and so his recent passing really caught me offguard. He spoke proudly about his teaching career and his love for his pupils. I’m quite impressed with messages from them that I read here. He will be missed!

I have lost my fraternity brother. We kept in contact over the many years even though we lived 5000 miles apart. He raised horses and I raised cattle. We often spoke of our love of caring and raising our animals.  We shared our on going  relationships and how our other fraternity brothers  were getting on with their lives.

On occasion Paul would mention his disapointment about not going to law school. The Vietnam war changed his career path and he entered teaching.  His  career as a teacher  had far greater reach than his aspiration  to pursue law.

Anyone who knew Paul knew his love of animals.  "The animals", as he would say.  Along with pieces of carrots and  apples as well as bales of hay  horses were his mainstay.

Mr. Ferrari was my 4th grade teacher, I will never forget him. A patient, kind, understanding man. We do not have people of his quality anymore, a great loss.

An amazing teacher! He’s the reason I enjoy history so much. He will be missed but not forgotten.

One of the many students Mr. Ferrari inspired to love history and love school. He inspired me to think deeply about why things happened and to look into the earliest moments of human civilization. Many years and many journeys later, I keep that curiosity with me as I learn Aramaic. From Persepolis to Los Angeles, مىسي, תודה, شكرا، εὐχαριστῶ σοι, gratias ago tibi, teşekkular sena ederim, danke schön, merci beaucoup, muchas gracias, thank you!

Paul came to Minisink as a teacher as I was leaving as a student. I met up again with him at Goshen Historic Track events during my terms as Sheriff. He was a great guy & fun to be around.

Paul and I first crossed paths 60 yrs ago at the State University @ New Paltz where he became JP. We had joined the same Fraternity and moved into a house with 20 other guys (picture the movie Animal House)  During that time, we shared some classes and lots of party time with our Fraternity Brothers. That friendship continued after Graduation with vacations and trips to Yankee Stadium and Army Football.  We were there for each other as we navigated those bumps in the road that each life brings. After I retired and moved to Florida we spoke nearly every week. He was a true friend and I am going to miss him. Rest in Peace my friend, my brother.
