Richard J. Memmer

It is with great sadness the Memmer family announces the unexpected passing of their beloved Richard Memmer on October 20, 2021 at the age of 67. Rick is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Janet Mary, his son, Wayne and his wife Ilysa, daughters Kerilee and her husband Larry Berben, Kaysie and her husband Paul Romana, and Allison and her fiancé Michael Morelli. He had two grandchildren, who he adored, Evelyn and Lawrence Berben. Rick is also survived by his Step-Mother, Dolores Memmer, brother, Charlie, sister, Kathy (Sis) and her husband Kevin Fisher, sister-in-law, Marge Memmer along with a large and loving circle of extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Kathleen Memmer, his brothers Stephen (Elmo) and Peter Memmer and niece Wendy Memmer. Rick grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey and then raised his own children in Washingtonville, NY. Rick was a NJ licensed plumber who worked as a Foreman for Van Natta Mechanical for 38 years where he was known as a dedicated and hard working person. He recently retired this past Summer. Rick loved riding his Honda Goldwing and looked forward to exploring National Parks. He was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. His family was the most important thing to him in this world and above all else was a true family man. He was a man with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone. He was kind and the most generous person to everyone in his life. Rick was always the life of the party and he will be missed more than anything.

A wake will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY. On Monday, October 25, 2021, there will be a funeral mass at 11:00am Saint Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville, NY.

Contributions in Rick’s memory may be made to a charity near and dear to his heart, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
