William J. Bloom, Sr.

William “Bill” Bloom of Campbell Hall, NY passed away Monday August 16, 2010, in Middletown, NY with his family by his side. He was 60 years old and born in Brooklyn, NY.

Bill was the only child of the late Virginia and William H. Bloom. He grew up in Rosedale, Queens. After his marriage to his wife Linda, he moved to Blooming Grove, NY and lived there for 14 years. He later moved to Campbell Hall, NY and had been there ever since.

He was the owner of What’s Hot since 1993, with stores in Monroe, NY and Vail’s Gate, NY. Prior to creating What’s Hot, Bill was the Senior Vice President of Alexander’s Department Stores, having worked his way up through the company over 22 years until the company closed.

Bill was active in the community, having served as a coach for many years in the Washingtonville Little League, as well as the CYO in Washingtonville. He later went on to become the owner and manager of the Washingtonville Wildcats of the Collegiate Baseball League. An avid sports fan, Bill had a deep love for both the New York Mets, and the New York Jets.

Bill was a loving family man who was married to his wife Linda for over 38 years, who survives him. He is also survived by his loving only son William “Bill” Bloom Jr., his mother in-law Emma Muenze, and his yellow lab Sparky, all at home. He is also survived by his best friend, Jerry Katz.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 18, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, August 19 at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walden, 2520 Route 208, Walden, NY. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, NY.
