Waterville – Brandon D. Rancourt, 79, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Mt. St. Jospeh’s Nursing Home in Waterville. He was born in Waterville a son of the late Romeo H. Rancourt and Uldine Nadeau on May 14, 1935. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1955.
Brandon joined the U.S. Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. After his time of service he was employed by Scott Paper Co. in Winslow where Brandon met his future wife Theresa Herald. They were married in 1956 and together had five wonderful children and together they shared many adventures. He loved to go to China Lake, Mt. Blue, and Georgetown, Maine.
After his retirement from S.D. Warren as a pipefitter he began a long career as a lobsterman in Georgetown. Whenever Brandon would ask someone to join him in a day of lobstering, they knew that they were in for a day full of surprises.
Brandon found his true passion on the ocean. He would embrace the warmth of the sun, the salt spray, and of course the company of his son-in-law Jon Thomas and Socrates, the Newfoundland. They had a few harrowing experiences that only the two of them could get into.
Brandon also loved to hunt. He and Chris, Tony, Jon, and Rob bagged a moose one year and he was so happy. The family ate off of the moose for an entire year.
B.D.R. as his family fondly called him loved to cut wood and smoke cigars. He would never turn down and a good stogie and a chainsaw.
Brandon married Dorothy Bilodeau in 1993 and together they would winter in South Carolina and Florida. They made many friends while there. Florida, he said: “was the best place on earth, especially when he was with his beloved Dorothy”.
There are many more stories to be told about Brandon. He was bigger than life and he lived it his way. Brandon finally has what he asked for, Freedom. He is greatly loved by his family and will always be missed until the end of time.
Brandon is survived by his wife Dorothy, children Anthony Rancourt and wife Cathy, Sandra Rancourt, Cynthia Rancourt, Karen Rancourt-Thomas and Christopher and Dacia Rancourt and his grandchildren Jessica and Kirk Fog, Robert Willette and finace Nina Bosco, Jacob and Michelle Rancourt, Tyler Whitney, Morgan Alexander, Myles Rancourt, Nathaniel Thomas, Cameron Thomas, and Ailie Rancourt.
