

MADISON – Debra Marie (Mathieu) (Morse) Amalfitano, 51, of Madison, passed away peacefully in her home after a long illness. She was born September 11, 1960, the daughter of Denis J. and Rachel A. (Boulette) Mathieu, educated in Waterville schools graduating from Waterville High School in 1978.
After many years of substitute teaching, Debra graduated from University of Maine at Augusta in 1980 and then after many years of substitute teaching graduated from Thomas College with a teaching degree in 2002. She worked for Waterville Junior High School for 10 years. She had a great affection for her students –she truly cared about their education and their wellbeing. Debra was also an avid reader and loved movies. What she adored and loved most though was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Debra loved her kids and family.
She was predeceased by her maternal and paternal grandparents and an aunt, Joan Sturtevant.
Along with her parents, Debra is survived by her long term companion, Jeff Pomerleau, a son, Justin Morse; a stepson, Curtis Morse; her companion’s two daughters, Lori Pomerleau and Patricia Oullette and her husband Mark Ouellette Jr. and their three sons, Mark, Christian and Asher; a sister, Susan Gagnon and her husband, Hank and their children, Rachel, Melanie and Matthew; close friends, Kim Moxcey and Sue Simpson and many other friends; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at Veilleux Funeral Home on Friday, July 13, from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, July 14, at 10 am; committal will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Debra’s name to the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers, 93 Silver Street, Waterville, ME 4901.
