China Village- Jacqueline Rodrigue-Varney 84, of Waterville died Tuesday January 28, 2014 at her home, after a lingering illness. She was born in Waterville on November 20, 1929 a daughter of the late Laffie and Laura (Lampron) Simpson. She married the love of her life Silas Varney on February 23, 1963. He predeceased her in June of 1983.
Jacqueline worked for Hathaway and Diamond International. She was a member of American Legion Post 195, in China, VFW Auxiliary 1285 in Waterville, and was past treasurer of The Seton Village Residential Council. She enjoyed keeping busy, for several years she delivered mail at Seton Village for the residents that could not get out, she also enjoyed beano, cribbage, and ceramics. She especially enjoyed her trips to Maryland where she would take little trips to Atlantic City to spend lots and win little. She took great pride in her family and friends, and especially proud of her 5 generation status.
She leaves her children: Raymond Rodrigue Jr. (Junior) and wife Kitty, Patricia Varney and husband Richard, David Rodrigue and wife Valma, and Stanford (Francis) Rodrigue and wife Linda, grandchildren: Alan Leclair and wife Lisa, James Leclair and wife Amy, Karen Courtney, Eric Varney, Scott Rodrigue and wife Roseann, Jon Rodrique and wife Melody, Chris Rodrigue and wife Mandy, Margaret Rodrigue, Kori Lefebvre and husband Jim, and Jacob Rodrigue and wife Nanci, great grandchildren: Stephen Leclair and wife Nichole, Marc Leclair, Allison Leclair, Ashley Leclair, Anthony Leclair, Richard Courtney, Jessica Courtney, Tyler and Savannah Rodrigue, Kiersten, Meadow Varney, Tessa, Shae and Brynna Rodrigue, Lili and Landon Lefebvre, Megan Emery, Jenna Rodrigue, and Emma, a great-great grandchild Lexxi Leclair. In addition to her children and grandchildren she is also survived by nieces and nephews inclusive of her niece Johnna Bowen who was like a daughter to her.
She was predeceased by a sister Joan Butler, a brother Raymond Simpson, and a granddaughter Jacqueline Patricia Leclair.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Healthreach Hospice especially the nurse Jan and caregiver Tasha.
Visitation will be held on Sunday February 2, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Veilleux Funeral Home 8 Elm St. Waterville, Me 04901. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Church on Monday February 3, 2014 at 9:00 Am. A burial will be held in the spring time at the Maine Veterans Cemetery.
