

Waterville – Roy Albert Scott, 76, of Waterville, passed away December 9th, 2016 at Maine General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Vassalboro, Maine, September 2, 1940 to parents Ernestine and William Scott. The family moved and he grew up in Fairfield. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1958.
He served his country in the Marines before returning back to Maine in Waterville. He met his future wife Esther Giroux roller skating in Winslow. They were married on February 3, 1962. They have three children: Marc Scott and wife Lori from Gaysville VT; Peter Scott from Worcester, MA; and Selena Scott McWade with husband Matt McWade from Swampscott, MA. Roy and Esther have two grandchildren, Sean and Sarah Scott, children of Peter and live in Massachusetts.
Roy had a brother named Mike Scott, and he passed away March of 2006. He is survived by his wife Esther, his sister Donna Cook and husband Al from Augusta, as well as many beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Over the years he worked at Diamond International, but was mostly known for being the friendly butcher working at the Winslow IGA for over 30 years.
He loved playing cards especially cribbage with his friends and family. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and his son Marc at Pine Ridge Golf Course. He was a member of the American Legion in Waterville and received an award as Legionnaire of the Year in 2014 for his Outstanding Leadership and Service.
Every year Roy and Esther looked forward to family vacations with their children, spouses, and grandchildren mostly at lake-house in New Hampshire.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 28 at 11:00 am at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 112 Silver Street, Waterville.
