Simone A Vashon

Hallowell - Simone "Cy" A. Vashon, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Woodlands Assisted Living in Hallowell. She was born in Waterville, September 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Adolphe and Angelina (Tanguay) Veilleux.

Cy was educated in Waterville parochial schools. She was a dedicated housewife who, in her early years, worked at Keyes Fiber, Hathaway Shirt Company, and Diamond Match Company. She enjoyed caring for her family, playing cards, bingo, bowling and spending time with her siblings and friends.

Cy was predeceased by her husband of over 57 years, Clarence Vashon. They enjoyed life, travelled the world, and lived in a variety of States always returning "home" to Maine. She is also predeceased by her sisters, Lillian, Theresa, and Mariette; brothers, Florient, Conrad, Earnest, Roland, and Florent “Babe”; and her granddaughter Katie.

Cy is survived by her sons, Jim and wife Carmen of Hermon, Wayne and wife Barbara of Benton, and Monsignor Randy of Annandale, NJ; her sister Madeline Vachon of Hallowell; sister-in-law Muriel Vigue of Waterville; brothers-in-law John Thomas and Donald Roderick of Waterville; her grandchildren Tim, Adam, Lance, Travis and Matt; great- grandchildren Brianna, Connor, Jack, Alex and Emily; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At Cy’s request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:00 a.m., Thursday, October, 24th at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Silver Street, Waterville. Burial will take place at a later date at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta.
