Carolyn was born December 11, 1944 to Clarence and Ann Woolf of Wayne, Michigan; the oldest of five children, Jeanne, Gary, Timothy, and Dan. When she was 7, 1 1/2 year old Gary died and Timothy was hospitalized from the flu.
Carolyn was always the smartest of the family, skipping 11th grade to graduate early. She then attended Andrews University where she met Jon Andrew Shell and graduated with a degree in English.
Jon and Carolyn were married August 21, 1966 and they lived in Wayne where she taught at John Glenn High. They soon moved to Berrien Springs when Jon graduated from Andrews. While there in September 1970, Carolyn was seriously injured in an auto accident. Jon, after working 10 years at Ausco, moved the family to their final home in Springport, Indiana.
Carolyn loved her children. To her, Christian Education was important. With no Adventist School in Muncie, Carolyn drove an hour each way to Indianapolis Adventist Academy.
She will always be remembered as trusting and giving. Today we "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12
Carolyn will be laid to rest in Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
