Dear Lilian and family,
May you find comfort and strength from Jesus and Mary as you endure this great loss. What a good and dedicated man Don was to God and family!
I cherish many fond memories of Don at St. Joseph's in Wayne. Be assured of my prayers for the repose of his soul and for you during this difficult time.

For those of you who asked me for a copy of what I read last night on Uncle Donald's behalf.
“Keep your chin up.”
Those were the last words my Uncle said to me. I cannot help but to think that he chose that phrase to end our final conversation so that I would then pass it on to all of you. A strange phrase, “Keep your chin up,” when you think about it at such a time and coming from the one who was in physical discomfort to be the one saying it. Then again, it is Uncle Donald we are talking about.
He was a Grandson, a Son, a Nephew, a Brother, a Cousin, a Soldier, an Uncle, a Godfather, a Husband, a Stepfather, Grandfather and Friend. This is the loss that has brought us here today and why the loss comes with great sadness. 
As a grandson, son & nephew, he was loyal, loving & challenging. As a brother & cousin he was the first to have your back and the first mischievous partner in crime. As a soldier, he was a defender of our freedoms. As an uncle, he was the one who would chase you around and make you laugh, or cry, and always in jest. But when it was time to be serious, he would say, “I think it's time we had a Godfather talk.” And then the teacher & authority figure would appear. He was a loving and loyal husband who treated his stepchildren and grandchildren as his own. And a friend, yes, he was one of those too. What is it that is said about a friend? Better question is, what isn't said about being a friend? Through thick and thin, when we needed a laugh or a shoulder to cry on, he was there.
But back to my final conversation, the end of it went like this:
“Chrissy, I am sorry; I am just not feeling so good right now. I am having a hard time & need to lie down.”
“Okay Uncle Donald, I love you.” I said.
“I love you too. Keep your chin up.” And the conversation ended.
And so I say to all of you, on behalf of your Nephew, Brother, Husband, Cousin, Veteran, Uncle, Godfather, Stepfather, Grandfather and Friend: “Keep your chin up.” He is in a place where he no longer suffers bodily pain and has been reunited with those who have gone before him and now only knows Love, Peace & Joy.

Dear Lilian and family.  Words cannot express my sorrow over losing Don and that it was such a surprise.  He was such a shining example of his Catholic faith and he will be greatly missed.  I will keep all of you in my prayers that God will hold you up and console you at this most difficult time in your life.  My husband and I so wanted to attend the funeral but sadly I discovered that I had to work so that was not possible. 
Whenever we met Don at church he always had a smile on his face, or he was praying his rosary.  You can be assured that Christ and His Blessed Mother were waiting with open arms to great him.

Our foundest memory of Don Colpitts was his consistent and sturdy Roman Catholic Faith. In spite of his cancer, he took every opportunity to serve at Holy Mass regardless of his progressive weakening. The humility of wearing a mask to protect him while his immune system was failing did not inhibit him in the service of being an usher. Hence, he was a model for all of us to live by regardless of difficulties that may exist. Now he is in eternity with the continued presence of Our Lord and His Holy Mother Blessed Virgin Mary.

I will always see Don with his Rosary in his hand, a smile on his face and a helping hand to whoever asked him. He was a sterling Catholic gentleman. 
I will always remember when  and how I met him. He had come to a Father Denis Chicoine lecture on what was happening in the Catholic Church and that the message of Fatima was  the ANSWER...prayer and penance and learn what the Churchd really does teach. He never looked back. He began to LIVE his holy Faith and was an example to each and everyone he met.
He will be missed greatly. Lily you were blessed to have him for so many years!

I first met him long before there was a Lily ~! He had come to a Father Denis Chicoine lecture and was absolutely stunned by what he learned was happening in the Catholic Church, with the Message of Fatima as the answer to it all ! He never looked  back. AND oh , his LILY...what a lovely wife he chose !

We will miss you, Don. May you rest in peace in the company of Our Lord and Our Lady to Whom you were so devoted. You will always remain in our hearts and in our prayers.

What a beautiful example Don was in living daily his Catholic Faith.  Always, always a Rosary in his hand or pocket.  Rest in peace.  We'll miss you.

Friends and Family should be Proud of this US Navy Vietnam Veteran.
God Bless You my Brother. Lillian, so sorry for your loss.Remember the good time you had with Don while he served in the US Navy, it was one of the hilights of his life, he shared stories with me.
