Frederick John Horne “Fred” was born in Torquay, England to John and Annie Horne on January 28, 1922. He was one of 5 children. Fred passed away peacefully at his home in Erie, Michigan on January 10, 2013 at the age of 90.
He was the beloved husband of Vera until her death in 2009. Loving father of Diane (the late Sylvester) Kephart, Dolores “Cheryll” (Bruce) Francis, Frederick (Diane) Horne II and Lillian McPherson. Dear “Poppy” of 11 grandchildren; Christine, Timothy, Nancy, Scott, Tracy, Bruce, Julie, Frederick III, Lindsey, Mark and Justin. Fred is also a great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
He is survived by his brothers Arthur, Thomas and his sister Catherine. Predeceased by his sister Nancy.
Frederick was a proud WWII Army Veteran. He later worked as an Engineer for General Motors and retired in 1980. He enjoyed working in the yard, listening to music in his garage, sitting by the campfire at his home in Lewiston, Michigan, and being involved with the Moose Lodge and American Legion post #198.
Fred will be laid to rest privately with his wife in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery
