Wilbur "Joe" Raymond Turner, born on February 24, 1939, in the city of Detroit, the son of Melvin and Hazel (Shields) Turner, passed away on March 3, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family.
Joe was, quite simply, a mechanic through and through. A man who never let a mechanical challenge go unmet, Joe's hands worked tirelessly throughout his years, making him a true artisan of the trade. But beyond the grease-stained hands and the smell of motor oil, he found joy in the delicate art of fixing TVs, a hobby that kept his mind sharp and his spirit lively. Joe indulged in his love for NASCAR, a passion that continued throughout his life even in his final days.
However, Joe's heart wasn't confined to the garage alone; he was also a seasoned hunter, finding solace in the great outdoors. His little piece of paradise awaited him up north in Luzerne, Michigan, a haven that stole his heart back in the 1950s, and remained a source of joy and peace throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deanna, and his three brothers—Paul, Donald, and Bernard Turner.
To cherish his memory, Joe leaves behind his daughter, Sheri (John) Wagner, three grandchildren—Ashleigh (Dean) Hofbauer, Ryan (Trisha) Adkins, Melissa (Micah) Scott—and five great-grandchildren: Tatum, Keyonna, Bryah, Abbi, and Ryan Jr. His memory is further cherished by his two surviving siblings, Shirley Nagel and Ronald Turner.
Service details are currently pending, a testament to the impact Joe had on the lives of those who knew him. In the days to come, information will be shared, and we will join together to celebrate the life of Wilbur "Joe" Raymond Turner. In honor of Joe's caring spirit and in keeping with a cause near and dear to his heart, memorial donations are suggested to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. May Joe's soul find eternal peace, and may the warmth of his laughter and kindness linger in our hearts forever.
