Mary Emma Shepherd

Mary grew up and was educated in Atlanta, Georgia where she met James Shepherd (deceased). They married January 25, 1941 and moved to Detroit where Mary was employed by Crowley Department Store as a Supervisor. She retired with them and moved on to General Motors and stayed with G.M. until her 2nd retirement.

Mary was loved by all who knew her, loving and warm to everyone. She loved gardening and her home. She was quite a crafts lady, always moving to improve and beautify her home.

She leaves behind a niece that loves her dearly and was always called "her baby" as Mary and James had no children of their own. Mary had another niece who resided in Michigan, Evette Hodge who spent many happy days with her.

After a period of illness, Mary departed this life on June 4, 2012 at Hillside Nursing Home in New York. Surviving to mourn and cherish her memory are Pauline Hardy (New York), Evette Hodge (Michigan), Eric Evans (New York), Janet Tolbert (Pennsylvania), Michael Richards (New York), Marty Richards (New York), and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service, Monday at Noon on June 11, 2012 at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Wayne, Michigan. The service will be led by Associate Pastor Dick Rich of the Fairhaven Baptist Churchin Westland, Michigan.

Follwing Committal Prayers, Mary will be laid to rest beside her loving husband in Knollwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
