Patricia (Patti) Lee Hutcherson, age 66, passed away on December 7, 2025, in her hometown of Westland, Michigan. She was born on February 4, 1959, also in Westland, and remained connected to the community throughout most of her life.
Patti was a woman who defied expectations; strong-willed, determined, and unapologetically herself. Her family recalls her as “not the typical woman,” especially when it came to her work. Patti embraced challenges few others would take on. Most recently a proud truck driver, she spent her life working in roles that demanded resilience. She built and repaired as a construction worker, scaled heights as a tree trimmer, and poured her heart into owning and operating her own landscaping company. She never shied away from tough jobs, and that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She was tough as nails when she needed to be, but will be remembered for her tenderheartedness and compassion for others.
Beyond her work, Patti’s greatest joy came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother to Amber (Aaron) Bruchhauser and Jessica Beverley, and a cherished grandmother to Damian Langlois, Jordyn Langlois, Jaelyn Langlois, Nicholas Bacon, and Alexander Bruchhauser. Patti is survived by her brother Sidney (Butch) Hutcherson III; and her sister-in-law, Roseanne Hutcherson. She had recently moved in with them, and was able to reconnect with Butch over funny childhood memories and crazy teenage stories. They could be heard laughing together throughout the house. They truly were a blessing to her in her final months. She is also survived by her sister Pamela (David) Haggadone; and stepmother Barbara Hutcherson, along with stepsiblings, nieces, and nephews who will remember her fondly.
Patti had a deep love for animals and was a passionate advocate for their well-being. She spent the last 50 years rescuing, rehabilitating, and fostering stray animals that others would have given up on. She spent many hours volunteering with local animal rescues and fundraising for causes close to her heart. Her compassion extended to all animals, and her efforts made a meaningful impact within the rescue community.
Some of her fondest memories were created at Camper’s Cove on Lake Erie in Wheatley, Ontario. There, she found friendship, relaxation, and a second home among people who became family. The bonds she formed and the joy she experienced at the lake were treasures she carried with her throughout her life.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Sidney Hutcherson II; her mother, Geraldine Masserang; and her dad, Daniel Masserang, along with too many great friends she made along the way.
In accordance with Patricia’s wishes, cremation will take place. No public services have been scheduled at this time. Her ashes will be scattered this summer, along her favorite shoreline.
