I am very sorry to hear of your loss of a fine young woman. My heart goes out to her husband , children and siblings. I did not get the opportunity to even meet her but I’m confident she was a stellar person in the Naugbton family tradition. Renee Selix is a very nice lady.  I really genuinely got joy out of speaking with her.  She's a very very nice lady.  She went above and beyond just teaching, she also went into making sure those around her felt comfortable, safe and assured.  She has a very nice and caring family to where when they got together, it was all about smiles, good conversation and loving greeting and farewell.  When she got together with her family, they really hit it off, with no interferences for sure.  Her laugh is the quality she possesses that made the people around her know how beautiful of a person she is! The way she laughed was so full of heaven itself,  pure beauty!  All throughout her life, she accomplished stealing hearts and winning people over!  They say when someone has good body language, that'll give you the sign that that individual is clearly a good person, and Renee had just that.  Renee's involvement in making me feel tranquil was a blessing to me that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.  I hope to one day send a spiritual message to heaven as a way to tell her thank you so much for making me feel special!

Dear Naughton Family,  I wish you peace and comfort in your loss of your wife, sister and mother. It’s events like this the put in the perspective of the speed that time passes. It seems we were all kids a short time ago and you realize a life was lived and time has past. Let’s all reflect in Renee passing and use it to savor every day and let our memories make life that much fuller.   Rick and Joe, sorry I didn’t find out about this sooner. I worked with Renee as a movement class teacher at Burger West. It seems like years ago. I had the funnest year ever working with her. She was always professional and showed a great love and patience when working with our students with autism. One of our students came from outside and gave me a bunch of dandelions. She said here’s for you and give some to your sister as she pointed to Renee. When Renee became Dr. Renee staff at Burger West was teasing me, asking me if I was the nurse. Renee‘s dad came to visit her often. I remember seeing the pride in his eyes when he talked about her to me and when he talk to her. I will miss Renee very much. We kept in touch through the years and I was always glad to hear from her. Dear friend, rest in peace❤️. You will be missed.

Dr. Selix  truly cared about her students. She encouraged each student to be a life long learner and a good citizen.   She will be greatly missed. 

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Renee. I worked with her briefly at Douglas elementary, I always admired her integrity working with all students. I also worked with Renee at Farmington elementary at the beginning of her career. We shared a funny moment when the Japanese language teacher was teaching us our birthdate and how to say it. She taught me to say mine and then Renee kept repeating my birthdate in Japanese,  the Japanese instructor tried to correct her but Renee just smiled and kept saying my birthday. She finally laughed and said her birthday was the same as my birthday. I love her  sense of humor. I feel lucky to know her, she’ll be missed.

I had the opportunity to work with Renee a few times during my tenure at Garden City Schools. She was nice, a good listener, compassionate and had a great sense of humor. Her students were fortunate to have her, and Garden City has lost a memory maker teacher. My sincerest sympathies to her husband, children, and siblings. The best of Renee will live on through each of you.

I just got to meet Dr. Selix this year she was so kind and fun to me. Im glad I got to know such a wonderful person. may she be with us all. Thoughts and prayers to her family

Love knows no boundaries. While Renee is no longer physically with us,  her spirit is always around us. My deepest sympothy and condolences to your family at this time.  

Renee was a wonderful contribution to the Tipton family. She loved the family and showed it at the Thanksgiving get togethers. I did not spend a lot of time with her outside of Thanksgiving but I always heard about her always making her presence at all of her kids events and being very much involved with their schooling. She was obviously a good mom, and very proud of her kids. I heard stories of how much fun times she had with her husband and kids. I am so sorry for this families loss, but I do know this family is a very strong family and will help each other through such a tough time. And I am sure Renee will be watching over you all from above. Sending my thoughts and prayers your way.


I loved working with Renee at Farmington. She had a hilarious sense of humor  and a fiery spunk that made her so much fun to be around! 
She was super supportive and was someone I truly connected with. 

I'm shocked. Dr. Selix was a wonderful educator. My son Gavin was in her 6th grade Hap class. I also substitute taught for her class sometimes.. She drove the car in the Santaland parade that Gavin was in a few years ago. Tragic loss. I'm praying for the family and friends.

She was a wonderful lady and a wonderful teacher. She worked at Burger school before I left 12 years ago. She was a kind caring person and a joy to be around. Rip. We miss you and I know God will take care of you and keep you safe. You are missed very much.

I just met Dr. Selix this school year at BTC.  Doctor was how I addressed her, I only knew her for a few months, but in those few moments of time she shared wisdom, understand and compassion with me during our conversations.  My family and I are praying for Eric and his family.  Heaven called home an ANGEL.

You had this amazing spunk about you that always kept me smiling and laughing! I wish our paths would have crossed sooner because I truly enjoyed having the opportunity to work with you at the Farm! You were so full of life and your stories & jokes were the best!! I’m laughing now just reliving them in my head and looking at pictures I have! The students you taught are so incredibly lucky to have had you as their teacher, just as all of us at the Farm are so thankful to have had you as a colleague and more importantly a friend! It’s hard to imagine that just this past Wednesday we were joking about snow days and that we just sat at Mona’s retirement chatting about how awesome your new position was at Burger and how happy things were with you! I’m still in disbelief over this and sending all my love to your kids, husband, family, friends, and everyone who was blessed to have known you! You were one of a kind Renee, one of the best, and now gone way too soon! ❤️😢💔You will be GREATLY missed my friend! ❤️ Kelly Carcone & family 

Dr Selix was my sixth grade teacher, and was a great go-getting person. Every day I would walk into her classroom and the first thing I saw on her face was a smile. She challenged us and spoiled us with her humor. I miss and respect her, and couldn't imagine the pain her family is going through. I will never forget the experiences we had, and I miss her dearly. On behalf of all children who have had the pleasure of being students of Dr. Selix, goodbye, and we will miss you.

Dr. Selix was an amazing teacher.  My grand daughter was in her class, and told me she was the best teacher she ever had.  She taught the HAP program and the children were all bonded together and with her.  At the end of sixth grade, my grand daughter said all the children were crying on the last day as they did not want to leave her or each other.  I am so terribly sad to hear this news, and so very proud that she taught all of these wonderful children that are now lifetime friends. Thank you Renee for being an awesome teacher and friend. When I came to GCPS she introduced herself and we bonded quickly. We shared many laughs, stories and strategies. She will be truly missed. Thank you for being a team mate, supporter and encourager. I’m going to miss our dates and your smile that always had a meaning behind it.

I don’t even know where to begin. Renee was one of my favorite feisty people on the planet. She shared much knowledge and wisdom with me regarding this crazy thing we do- teaching!
