Scott Allen Barrett, age 53, of Wayne, Michigan, passed away on February 2, 2026, after a courageous fight against cancer. He was born on July 27, 1972, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Ronald and Phyllis Barrett.
Scott was the beloved husband of Wendy Ann Barrett, with whom he shared 29 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted and loving father to his two sons, Austin and Cody, who were the pride and joy of his life. Scott was a dear brother to Dawn Hubbard and Joe Barrett, and a cherished brother-in-law to Michael Neil and Leo (Jessica) Wilson. He was a proud and loving uncle to Gregory, Kayla, Justin, Joanna, Joey, Lilly, and Lucy.
Scott is survived by his loving mother, Phyllis Freeman; his mother-in-law, Margaret Wilson; and his father-in-law, Leo Wilson. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Barrett, and his grandparents, Lysle and Suzanna Collyer.
Scott graduated from Belleville High School and began his career in manufacturing shortly after graduation. He dedicated 17 years of hard work to AJM Packaging of Southgate, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
Scott truly lived life to the fullest. He loved being outdoors in any weather and never wanted to stay inside. A natural jokester, Scott had an infectious sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He enjoyed amusement parks—especially Cedar Point and roller coasters—followed NASCAR, and was a die-hard University of Michigan Football fan.
Traveling was one of Scott’s greatest joys. He was always the explorer, eager to discover new places and learn his surroundings so he could share everything he found with his family. Vacations were never restful for Scott—he was always on the move, soaking in every experience.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate care team on the 4th floor of Corewell Health–Wayne Hospital for their kindness and dedication during Scott’s stay.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, located at 34567 Michigan Avenue, Wayne, Michigan. In honor of Scott, guests are encouraged to wear University of Michigan colors.
