She was born in Waynesboro, the daughter of Margaret and the late Bobby Frye.
Becky was a member of Lyndhurst United Methodist Church where she attended regularly until her illness and also enjoyed singing in the choir. She had just recently retired from the Augusta County Treasurer’s Office after fifteen years of service. She was an avid bowler and an amazing softball pitcher. She was very gifted at crafting and sewing. You name it, she could do it all. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participating in their individual sporting endeavors. Becky’s voice was always the loudest in the stands. Over the last several years, Becky enjoyed camping with friends and family and watching the foolishness that took place at those events.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Mike Claytor.
Survivors include her mother, Margaret Frye; her husband Darryl; her daughter, Michele Astarb and her husband Nick; her son, Stacy Comer and wife, Chastity; four grandchildren; Dylan, Jenna and Bently Comer and Aiden Astarb; three sisters, Carolyn Shull and husband Carl, Teresa Floyd and husband Tony, Robin Hundley and husband Nick; a very special niece and nephew, Brent and Brittany Floyd; her god daughter, Ashley Plogger, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles whom she loved dearly.
Becky also leaves behind her best friend, Marilyn Lowery.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by Rev. Michael Pettry and Pastor Caesar Wheeler. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Painter, Gary Huffman, Carson Holloway, Junior Humphreys, Brent Floyd, Jeremy Shifflett, Dylan Comer and EJ Hewitt.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Lyndhurst United Methodist Church Choir.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their most heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers at Blue Ridge Cancer Care, Dr. Heath and Staff, the entire staff of UVa Hope Center, and the Emily Couric Cancer Center, Drs. Weiss and Joise, and her most loved and precious caregiver was her mother who “nursed” her back to good health many times over the years.
Just as her dad would say, “Everything is gonna be alright.” We find comfort in knowing she is cancer free and she will always remain very much alive in our hearts.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
