

Born July 1, 1934 in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Ruby F. (Thorton) Akers.
Bertie was a member of the Non-Denominational Christ Church and the Steeles Tavern VFW Post 8279 Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Richardson, Sr.; brothers, Francis W. Akers, Robert W. “Bobby” Akers and George Edward Akers.
Survivors include her loving children, Charles W. “Pete” Richardson, Jr. of Mount Solon, Freddie L. Richardson and wife, Betty of Stuarts Draft, Judy Young of Stuarts Draft, Mary Richardson of Crimora and Ruby Whitecotten of Waynesboro; brother, Claud Eugene “Gene” Akers of Radford; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; special friends, Sonny and Karen “Pinky” Claytor and Joanie Harris.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January, 31, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Pastor Alton Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Daniel Richardson, Derek Richardson, Junior Forbes, Timmy Forbes, Sonny Hostetter and Jim Foley.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the funeral home.
