Mrs. Via was born on April 20, 1938 in Augusta County and was a daughter of the late Charles Edward Drumheller and Elizabeth Purvis Grose and step parents, Earnest Camm Purvis and wife Helen, and Nora Drumheller. She worked for the Family Dollar Store in Grottoes, Piggly Wiggly in Waynesboro, and Village Market in Crimora. Mrs. Via enjoyed fishing, line dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. Betty was a member of the Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, Boots and Boogie Line Dance Class, and the Waynesboro Moose Lodge.
She is survived by her husband Granville H. Via.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Via is survived by her sons, Robert S. “Bob” Colvin Jr. and wife Betty of Crimora, Douglas K. “Doug” Colvin of Crimora, Gary E. Colvin and wife Rita of New Hope; daughters, Donna Colvin Robinson and husband Curtis of Elkton, Kim Colvin Lowry and partner Terry Gentile of Waynesboro; step daughters, Karen Dameron, Debbie Rinker, Kimberly Wright, Julie Garman, Melissa King; sister, Sandy Perdue of Verona; Brother, Jack Purvis and wife Vicki of Waynesboro; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters in law, Dee Purvis and Faye Via.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Clarence “Bud” Purvis; and a brother in law, John Perdue.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday September 29, 2022 at 1 PM at the Waynesboro Free Methodist Church with Pastor Ethan Colvin officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 until 8 at Waynesboro Free Methodist Church.
