Betty Jane Witmer

She was born on August 4, 1939, in Dayton, VA to the late Warren and Ina Showalter and was a member of Pleasant Valley Mennonite Fellowship.

On April 19, 1961, she married Joseph Witmer who preceded her in death in December of 2013.

Surviving are 2 sons, Orville and wife Esther of Dayton, VA, Curtis and wife Rebecca of Marion, VA; 14 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren; 6 sisters, Martha, wife of the late James Knicely of Hinton, VA, Mary Catherine Showalter of Harrisonburg, VA, Reba Rhodes and husband Lee Roy of Mt. Solon, VA, Ethel Showalter and husband Kenneth of Mt. Crawford, VA, Lula Hofer and husband Paul of Raymond, Alberta, Sarah Showalter and husband Micheal of Bridgewater, VA and one brother, Galen Showalter and wife Janet of Dayton, VA.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, and one great granddaughter.

Friends may visit the family on Monday March 30, 2026, from 2 PM until 4 PM and from 6 PM until 8 PM at the Pike Mennonite church.

Funeral services will be held on March 31, at 10:00 AM at Pike Mennonite Church, 31 Pike Church Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22801. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
