

Bobby was born on October 29, 1935 in Batesville VA, the son of the late Andrew Leslie and Ladys Marshall Graves. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He founded Diversified Communication Services in 1972 after entering the telecommunications field with Stromberg-Carlson in the 1950's. He retired in 2002, leaving the business to his 3 sons. After his formal retirement he began to work on his dream house “on the hill” in Afton. As proved by his new house, Bobby could do nearly anything he set his mind on. He had the desire and passion from refurbishing telecommunication hardware to antique cars to rebuilding/refurbishing homes, to perfection. He enjoyed traveling encompassing the whole US and six of the seven continents.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Anne Graves.
Additionally, he is survived by three sons: Anthony Graves and wife Twittie, Mark Graves and wife Madelyn, and Jeffrey Graves and wife Pam, all of Waynesboro; a sister Anne Graves Hunter of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren: Erica Graves, Melanie Graves, Michael Graves, Alex Graves, Allison Graves, Anne Graves, and Logan Graves; two sisters-in-law: Pat Graves, Helen Graves. He was preceded in death by his parents and also two brothers: Andrew Leslie Graves Jr., and Kenneth Conrad “Sonny” Graves.
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 30, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home with Revs. Derek Koolman and Whitney Critzer officiating. Burial will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville at 3:30PM. The Graves family will receive friends on Sunday January 29, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be: Alex Graves, Michael Graves, Harold Phillips, Tom Pelfrey, Bruce Hunter, Robert Hunter, Emil Kutilek, and John Rainey. Honorary pallbearers will be: William Provance, Kenny Grey, Charlie White, and Larry Rainey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Batesville United Methodist Church, PO Box 33, Batesville VA 22924.
