He was born in Virginia Beach on May 5, 1980, a son of Garth Lynn Wheeler and Karen (Black) Haggenmaker. Chris grew up in Mechanicsville and attended Atlee High School. He proudly joined the United States Army when he was 18 and served his country for six years with the Brigade of ADA as well as serving two years overseas.
After his discharge from the military, Chris moved to Staunton and was employed by Digital Traffic Systems of Waynesboro.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Sheila Terry Wheeler; son, Christopher Wheeler, Jr.; daughter, Aubrey Jo Wheeler; brother, Charles Wheeler; step-daughters, Jade Huntley and Leah Terry; step-mother, Patty Wheeler; grandmother, Betty Eubank; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Merle Fisher officiating.
Chris was a loving son, husband and father. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. May he rest in peace in the care of the Lord.
