

Edwin Flemming “Ed” Munro, 72, of Lyndhurst, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania on April 1, 1943, a son of the late Clair E. Munro and Thelma Rogers Miller Munro.
Ed was a graduate from Lock Haven High School. On August 2, 1975, Edwin married the love of his life, Wanda Lee Fretwell Munro and they were married for 40 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his service in the army, Ed worked as a Senior Division Manager for Woolco Department Store in New Carrollton, Maryland for 20 years. Ed later moved to the Shenandoah Valley where he worked as an Executive Manager for Shoney’s in both Waynesboro and Charlottesville for 19 years. After Shoney’s closed, he went on to manage the Waynesboro and Charlottesville area McDonalds for 14 years until his retirement. Ed was a member of the Moose Lodge in Waynesboro for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Clair, Richard, and Robert Munro all from Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. In addition to his wife, Wanda, he is survived by his sisters-in-law Linda Mae Balsey and husband, Paul, Bessie Crawford, Suzanne Gutt and husband, Phil, Julia Painter, and husband, Paul, Patricia, Helen, and Ruth Munro; brothers- in-law, Allen Fretwell and wife, Barbara; Steven Fretwell and wife, Melissa, and Doug Clark all of Lyndhurst and Stuarts Draft; as well as many niece, nephews, and extended family and friends of Lyndhurst, Stuarts Draft, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Chaplain Mark Westebbe officiating. Burial to follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Shawn Armstrong, Clinton Painter, Jimmy Evans, Tony Evans, Chris Gutt, and Jeff Gutt. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Fretwell, Jr. and Allen Fretwell, III.
The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
