Fenton Bruce Slaughter

Born December 6, 1950 in Elizabeth, NJ he was a son of the late William Francis and Virginia Alice (Davis) Slaughter.

Bruce was a devoted Baptist. Prior to retirement, he was employed by New Jersey Transit System where he worked as a faithful bus driver for over 35 years. He was a U.S. veteran having served his country honorably with the Air Force. Bruce greatly enjoyed working on computers, technology, playing checkers and the guitar, and soldering items.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hakeem Shabazz; and a niece, Heather Toney.

Survivors include his four children, Denise Holland, Virginia Jackson, Evadne Slaughter, and William Slaughter; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sheila Jackson Street of Belleville, NJ and Cheryl Brogdon of North Garden, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, all services will be held privately.

There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
