
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Staff Sergeant Jack Austin Bryant, 81, died on Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C. He was born on August 14, 1930, in Augusta County, a son of the late George and Edna Barringer Bryant.
He retired from the United States Army after twenty-two years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Bryant, Houston Bryant, and five sisters, Laura Reed Louderback, Louise McNally, Frances Zaas, Eligabeth Tedder and Beuthah Bryant.
Survivors include a son, Jack Allan Bryant of Germany; a brother, John Bryant; a sister, Thelma M. Holloway of Stuarts Draft; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at Augusta Memorial Park with the Reverend Judson Baldwin officiating. Military rites will be provided by Stuarts Draft VFW Post 9339.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice . Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
