James Ester Ramsey

He was born April 6, 1921 in Rockbridge County, son of the late Denny Price and Nellie Burch Ramsey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine H. Ramsey in March, 2006; one step-daughter, Mataline Hildenbrand.two brothers, Clarence Ramsey and Al Ramsey; one sister, Allie Perry.

Mr. Ramsey had been a mechanic at Coffey’s Garage and was retired from Southern Stainless Co.

Survivors include one son, Arthur “Spyder” Benson and his wife Linda of Stuarts Draft, one step-son, Glenn Harlow of Fishersville; one daughter, Polly Thacker of Fishersville; two step-daughters, Shirley Jean Fisher and Mary Mongold, both of Waynesboro, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 in the McElwee Cemetery in Rockbridge County with Pastor Greg Mayo officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Spyder, Kevin, Darryl, and Jeff Benson, Gary Mawyer and Lee Lipscomb

There will be no visitation or viewing at the funeral home.
