Mr. Smallwood was born on October 4, 1941 in Augusta County and was a son of the late James Henry and Mae (Deffenbaugh) Smallwood. After graduating from Waynesboro High School, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for the Waynesboro News Virginian and later as an EMT for Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Carolyn Dodd and husband Dale; special niece Tambra Miller and husband J.P. and their daughter Kira; special nephew Troy Dodd and wife Melissa and their son Carson; and other cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a special nephews, Dale “D.D.” Dodd, Jr.
Due to the current Covid-19 conditions, there will be no services or visitation, however, the family will conduct a private service at a later date. Following his wishes, he will be cremated.
