

Jerry was commonly known as Bubba to his friends.
Jerry was born June 2, 1943, in Augusta County. Preceding him in death were his parents Frances (Bryant) Zaas, and Emmett Kenneth Conner.
He is survived by a son, Jerry Allen Conner Jr. of Staunton; a grandson, Jerry Allen Conner III of Waynesboro; and a treasured great grandson Gavin Conner of Richmond.
He is also survived by siblings, Ronnie Conner of Waynesboro, Faye Bartley of Staunton, Hilda McClain of Waynesboro, and half-sister Cindy Coffey of Fishersville.
Jerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 26, 1960, serving four years of active duty and two in the reserves. Jerry returned home at discharge with the name Bubba and worked at E. I. Dupont fulfilling many duties including some work in China and Budapest. He retired in 2005.
Jerry enjoyed an active lifestyle and was a long-time member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles Inc., and the American Legion. Many will remember him for his enthusiasm for golf as well as his love to place a wager on his favorite horse or other sure or risky bets.
A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted at Augusta Memorial Park on Monday, May 19th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Merle Fisher officiating. If willing, please come prepared to share a short memory of Jerry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fishersville Eagles, FOE 4129, 2339 Jefferson Hwy., Waynesboro, Va. 22980 to benefit charitable causes.
