

Born on April, 16, 1949, a son of the late Walter P. Quick and Loretta Allen Todd. His father passed away when he was young and his mother remarried the late Lawrence B. Todd, whom Joseph always looked to as his father.
In addition to his parents and step father he was preceded in death by, a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Renea Turner; niece, Faryn E. Clark.
Joseph was a DuPont retiree having worked in the maintenance department for 19 ½ years. His true passion in life was riding his Harley Davidson. Joseph was a member and road captain of the Valley Riders. In past years he had also been a member of the Shenandoah HOGS. He loved the wind in his face, loud rumble of the pipes, open rode with no agenda and the brotherhood he shared with his fellow riders. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served with the 355th Aviation Company as a helicopter mechanic specialist. Smokey will be remembered most by those who knew him as a family man, avid outdoorsmen who loved to fish, someone who would help anyone at anytime and a skilled woodworker.
He leaves behind those he loved the most, his two daughters, Melissa Williams and husband, Jesse and Rebecca G. Quick; step children, Vanessa Dedrick, Harvey Blackwell and wife, Shelia and Crystal King and husband, Bobby; siblings, Wilma Morris and husband, David, Brenda McCauley, Larry Todd, Wanda Wallace and husband, Mike and Linda Day and husband, Donnie; granddaughters, Cassandra Reade, Brittni Reade and Maricela Ortiz; 15 great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; a special aunt, Ginny Mae Bunch; numerous nieces and nephews; his cat, Spencer and dogs, Sheba and Mary Jane.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Wayside Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Cline officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
The procession of Harley Davidsons will lead him to rest at Barren Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arthur Wells, Jesse Williams, Glenn Estepe, Marty Karupinski, Bob Hudlow, Larry Todd, David C. Reade, Jr. and Lucas Herron. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
