Joyce (Hale) Johnson

Joyce Ann (Hale) Johnson, our loving beautiful mother, 77, of Stuarts Draft passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Augusta Health. She was born in Augusta County on August 3, 1940, a daughter of the late Carlos C., Sr. and Sarah Frances (Miller) Hale.

Joyce was a member of White Hill Church of the Brethren. She worked for Corning Glassware until retirement. Dancing and listening to music were a few of her favorite hobbies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Johnson and siblings, Carlos C. Hale, Jr., Robert Hale, and Mary Eustler.

Survivors include her children, Frances Truslow and husband, Donald and Jimmy Jackson and wife, Sandra; five step children, a number of grand and step grandchildren; a number of great and step great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean Treat and husband, George and Jerry Hale and wife, Sharon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor David Chappell officiating. Cremation will follow the services at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939.
