Leonard Miller Ponton

He was born January 2, 1941, a son of the late Stephen Withers and Ruby (Gowan) Ponton.

Miller retired from the former DuPont Company of Waynesboro. He was a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church in Roseland.

He enjoyed fishing off the pier, camping and bowling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Ponton; sister Mildred Hubbard; brothers, Julian Ponton, Lawrence Ponton, Albert Ponton, Leslie “Buck” Ponton; sisters in law Barbara Ponton, Deanna Ponton; brothers in law Wilson White and Billy Hubbard

Survivors include a daughter, Angela Ponton; brothers, Douglas Ponton and wife Imogene, Leo Ponton and wife Frances, Alvin Ponton, Homer Ponton and wife Frances; sister, Shirley White; stepson, Clay Steagall; step-grandson, Derek Steagall and a step-granddaughter, Leighton Steagall.

He also leaves special friends Clay and Misti Frazier who were like family.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday January 19, 2026 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Va.
