i remember you Liz as my flaming red haired covered in freckles Aunt that like  your hair was a drop of sunshine.   Always positive with that sunny disposition that left me feeling upbeat each time I left your presence.  As a child, I recall your full of humor and always funny stories about growing up poor in the mountains of Virginia  with your large family where you had the love of family.   The trouble you all got into,  the troubles you over came, and yet the stories always were with a positive outlook on life's experiences.   And I remember, visiting when you would invite us to sit at the kitchen table, you offered a cup of tea and we just talked until it was time to go.  You helped teach me the beauty of being positive and the art of being gracious to your guests.  I miss you already.   

I remember the first time I met you .  I was visiting my grandparents on the farm and they told me My Uncle David  was bringing his girlfriend to visit. I wasn’t happy my favorite Uncle had a girlfriend but It did not take long before you won my heart and you became  “My Aunt Elizabeth.” You were my “Cool Aunt” who let me polish my nails red and drive the tractor wearing your halter top.  Even when I was grown you and Uncle David always made me feel loved and special.  You are always in my heart and I will miss you. My prayers are with Uncle David, Wes, Cindy, Robin and all the grandchildren. 

She alway had a smile and in return you had a smile. God be with Dave and the family.

The best memories were the ones we shared around the kitchen table lisenting to Aunt Liz tell her family stories of growing up.  I could hardly wait to get to Waynesboro;  Dad would pile us all into the station wagon to take the 4 hour drive to go to Uncle David's and  Aunt Liz's.    Aunt Liz  was the best story teller, she could always make you laugh so hard.   She had the greatest laugh herself.  

She’d always say “come by”; such a sweetie 
I’m in NC so won’t be able to attend 
Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Pete Martin, Fred Martin, Russell Martin, Linwood Martin, Robert Martin; sisters, Lila Robertson and Shirley McGann.

Survivors include her husband, Dave Lutton; son, Wes Lutton of Stuarts Draft; daughters, Cindy Blackwell and husband, Jack of Waynesboro, Robin Birckhead and husband, Thomas of Waynesboro; siblings, Bland Martin, Jr. and wife, Brenda of Batesville and Gladys Martin of KY.; grandchildren, Melanie, Heather, Kristina, Meagan T.L. and James David; ten great grandchildren and one to be born.
