

Born June 28, 1927 in Verona, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Nettie (Craun) Ashby.
Margie was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren where she served in a number of different capacities including on the church board. She was a faithful employee of Etter Funeral Home and later Etter-Reynolds Funeral Homes where she worked as office manager for 30+ years. Some of her greatest time spent was with her family, working in her yard, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed being a member of the Waynesboro Women’s Club and studying Virginia history. She will be remembered by those who knew her as someone who loved to volunteer her time to those in need. Her generosity will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Kenneth Ronald “Bill” Hewitt; three brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include her two loving sons, Ken Hewitt and wife, Sandi of Waynesboro and Mark Hewitt and wife, Ellen of Fishersville; six grandchildren, Erin Hewitt, Sarah Owens and husband, Steve, Emilee Sawyers, Annie Craft and husband, Mike, Elayne Hewitt, and Jamie Hewitt and wife, Carolyn; seven great-grandchildren, Avery Sawyers, Finley Sawyers, Aeddan Owens, Alexandra Owens, Nia Owens, Logan Craft and Charlotte Hewitt; sister, Rosebud VanFossen; a number of nieces and nephews; special granddog, Gomez; as well as a number of special friends from church and in the community.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Pastor Todd Crowder officiating. Entombment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park & Mausoleum.
Active pallbearers will be Ken Hewitt, Jamie Hewitt, Mike Craft, Steve Owens, Gary Bradley, Samantha Schroeder, Wayne Grant, Mark Day, Brian Clinedinst, Edward Thomas and Doug Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Tomey, Ervin Wood, Bruce Bowman, Garnett Weatherholtz, Rick Hawkins, Mike Coffey, Eddie Stratton, Jr., Dr. Donald Lee and Charles Reynolds.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the funeral home.
