Mary Ellen Showalter

She was born in Augusta County on October 14, 1925, a daughter of the late James O. and Lillian McBride Coiner Rowe.

Mary Ellen was a homemaker and a member of Springdale Mennonite Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Sue Showalter; brothers, Marvin Rowe, Russell Rowe and James Rowe; sisters, Viola Balser, Geneva Grove and Catherine Balser.

Survivors include her loving husband of 70 years, W. Milton Showalter; two sons, Ward Milton Showalter, Jr and his wife, Pat of Oklahoma, Donny Showalter and his wife, Jenny of Fishersville; a daughter, Sandy Whitesell of Waynesboro; a daughter- in- law, Dwan Showalter; eight grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Gladys Hayes of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Springdale Mennonite Church with Pastors Kevin Goertzen and Lewis Sweet officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Active pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
