

Opal worked as a cook with the Purple Foot restaurant in Waynesboro. She was an avid Santa Claus collector. Opal will be remembered for her spunky personality.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Stuart Roberts; daughter, Wanda Brown; brother, Roger McVey; brother-in-law, Leonard Clifton Holmes; and sister-in-law, Della McVey.
Survivors include her son, David Roberts and wife, Karin of Stuarts Draft; siblings, Samuel McVey of Waynesboro, Allen McVey of Staunton, and Ethel Holmes of Waynesboro; son-in-law, Fred Brown and wife, Cindy of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Stacie Witt and husband, Zac of Fishersville and Jason Brown and wife, Edha of Maryville, TN; great grandchildren, Jordan Moats and husband, Westley of Stuarts Draft, Ryan Chilafoux of Fishersville, Andrew Brown and Sophia Brown both of TN, Aralyn Witt, Oaklyn Phillips, and Jaxton Witt all of Fishersville; special friend, Bertha May; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10am on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Rader Ogden officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Terry Holmes, Jimmy Holmes, Roger Holmes, Zac Witt, Fred Brown and Jason Brown.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Thomas Pereles and the staff at Augusta Nursing and Rehab for their loving care of Opal and her family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
