Ryland was born in Virginia to Kate and Sidney Rea on September 3rd, 1945. He spent over 30 years with Vepco / Dominion Power doing a little bit of everything, retiring as a heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, Ryland enjoyed building models, fishing, gardening and watching NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, Ryland was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Matheny.
Ryland is survived by his son, Keith Rea (Tammy Dedrick) of Waynesboro; his grandchildren, Carley Bell (Zach) and Dalton Rea (fiancé Brittany Billings); as well as his great grandchildren, Gwendolen, Evelyn, and Hogarth. He is also survived by his sister, Faye Truslow; and close friends, Carl Riddle, “Buddy” Scott, and “Diddle” Snyder.
Following cremation, a family night will be held at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes on Friday, January 30th, 2026 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
