Sarah Helen (Wright) Fitzgerald, 87, of Palmyra, VA passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born February 25, 1935 in Alleghany County, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Margie Wright.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Fitzgerald; a son, Alvin Spooner; nine brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her children, Helena Stroppel and husband, Charles of Grottoes, Mary Doty of NC, and Billy Spooner of Waynesboro; grandchildren, C.J. Stroppel (Jenny), Michael Stroppel (Dawn), Jason Doty (LaDonna), Michelle Doty, and Victory Doty; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Abraham Wright of Covington, VA; sister, Agnes Thomas of Grottoes; special niece, Dorothy Losh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
