

Born February 11, 1972 in Lexington, KY she was the daughter of the late Joe Neal Harris and Twana Marilyn (Williams) Harris.
Shannon graduated and received her diploma from Waynesboro High School.
She then went on to pursue her education goals further by earning her bachelor's degree from Virginia Intermont College, and then her Master of Arts in Education from Mary Baldwin University.
Shannon always knew from a young age that she wanted to be a teacher and make a difference in children's lives. She began her teaching career at Stone Spring Elementary School and was awarded Teacher of the Year. This was an achievement that she was both very proud, and honored to receive. Employed with Riverheads Elementary School, Shannon enjoyed shaping and molding the young minds of her students daily.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Middie Frances (Smith) and JB Madison Williams of Muskogee, OK; and her paternal grandparents, Elfreda L. (Gregory) and Edgar H. Harris of Hazel Park, MI.
Shannon is survived by her daughter, Zoe Haze "Skye" Shuey of Crozet; loving siblings, Stacy Harris, and brother, Brad Harris and wife, Ashley; nephew, Ryan Harris, and niece, Annika Harris, all of Waynesboro; maternal cousins, from Oklahoma and Arkansas; and paternal cousins, from Michigan. Shannon also leaves behind many special people in her life including, Harry Thomas Harlow, Tom Sheaffer, and lifelong childhood friend, Kathy Berrang Hiserman; and last her loyal and loving dogs, Stella and Zeppy, who brought her great comfort and companionship.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private inurnment will be held at Augusta Memorial Park where Shannon's final resting place will be beside her mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Augusta Dog Adoptions, 821 Town Center Drive, Waynesboro, Virginia 22980 or to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, 96 Laurel Hill Road, Verona, Virginia 24482.
