Weldon K. Wright

Weldon was born in Nelson County, Virginia on October 31, 1939 to the late Meredith Stanley and Eleanor (Massie) Wright. He married Bonnie on November 7, 2009 in Staunton. They were happily married for over five years.

Weldon Graduated from St. Leo University in 1970 with an Associates in Arts. He was a 30-year veteran of the United States Navy where he retired as a Chief Petty Officer on March 31, 1987. He then worked at the United States Postal Service in Norfolk, Virginia for 22-years, retiring October 31, 2009.

In addition to his parents, Weldon was predeceased by his brothers, Meredith Stanley Wright, Jr., Bland Gordon Wright and Leo Marvel Wright; his sisters, Alta Virginia Pultz, Anne Elaine Clark, Helen Claytor, Antha Campbell and Eleanor Brady. Also preceding him was his wife Theresa (2005).

Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie; children, Kristin Marie Wright-Austin, Andrew Christopher Wright, Stephen Kerr Wright and Justin Michael Wright; brother-in-law Carl Brady; step-children, Betty Phillips and husband Charlie Phillips, John Van Fossen and wife Melissa Van Fossen; two grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Major Gary Lee Long and Major Sam Hearne officiating. Burial to follow at Jonesboro Cemetery in Roseland, VA. with Military Honors. Family will receive friends, Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers for Weldon include: Jimmy Campbell, Andy Beasley, Larry Claytor, Ralph Claytor, Mike Campbell, Tracy Wright, Dan Schilling, and Charlie Phillips. Honorary Pallbearers include: Calvin Campbell, Jonathan Van Fossen, Jacob Van Fossen, John Van Fossen, Michael Bass, Matthew Bass and Harvey Williams.
