

Danny John Edgar, 85 of Winchester, VA formerly of Waynesburg, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016. He was born in March of 1931, in Ruff Creek, PA the son of the late Clarence Edgar and Elizabeth Aldene Brown Edgar. Mr. Edgar was the loving soulmate and husband of the late Betty Jo Waychoff Edgar, who passed away in July 2014. They met in high school on a blind date set up by mutual friends, were married in April of 1953, and shared 61 wonderful years together. He was a 1949 graduate of Waynesburg High School, where he played football and ran track. Since childhood, he had been a member of the Washington Street United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. Upon graduating high school, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Following his active duty service, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He proudly served with the local Waynesburg unit, where he rose to the rank of Major and eventually was Company Commander. He was a long-time employee of Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation. He worked in various southwestern PA communities, until being transferred to the Strasburg, VA office, from which he retired as Division Office Manager. He enjoyed being with his family, doing yard work, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a fine craftsman. Surviving are 2 Daughters: Janet Edgar of Winchester, VA and Donna (Phil) Renner of New Martinsville, WV. A Son: Mark (Cheryl) Edgar of Stephens City, VA and various nieces and nephews. He was the beloved and very proud Pap-Pap to grandchildren Justin, Nathan, Logan, Gracie and great-grandchildren Kennedi and Kayden. He was the last member of his immediate family. Deceased are 1 Sister: Ruth Edgar Warman, and 2 Brothers: Clarence S. Edgar and Ralph G. Edgar. Friends will be received from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH,Inc. 197 N. Maiden St. Waynesburg, PA 15370 Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director where services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 with Rev. William Parker officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Twp., Greene Co., PA 15370 Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the James Farrell American Legion Post #330 and by representatives of the US Army.
