

Frances George, 90, of Kirby, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the Washington Hospital after a short illness. She was a daughter of the late Sam and Clara Piper Moore. Frances was a graduate of Waynesburg Central High School. In 1950 Frances moved to Kirby as a young bride after marrying Carl E. Long to start their family. After Carl's death in 1969, she married Wayne George in 1974 and together they raised their combined family until Wayne's death in 1990. A woman of faith, fierce independence and determination she stayed in her own home until her passing. Frances worked in food service for 30 years for the Central Greene School district retiring in 1996 as head cook at Margaret Bell Miller. She volunteered as a 4-H Sewing Club leader, operated a small business and was a baker at Sisters 4 Tea. Mondays were spent with sisters Glenda, Sharon and sister in law Barbara to play a fiesty game of Hand & Foot, a Moore family favorite. Surviving are 1 Daughter: Charlotte (Jim) Connors of Waynesburg, PA, 1 Son: Ronald Wayne (Carolyn) Long of Temple, GA, 2 Stepchildren: Gary George of WV, Beth Madden of NC, 15 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great-Grandchild, 2 Sisters: Glenda (Dick) Davis of Deemston, PA, Sharon (Keith) Cowell of Waynesburg, PA and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are 1 Son- Carl E. Long, Jr., 1 Grandson- Timothy James Connors, 2 Stepchildren- Eleanor Cole and Kevin George, 1 Sister- Pauline Wilson and 4 Brothers- Bob, Lou, Samuel and Arthur Moore. Friends will be received from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 197 N. Maiden St. Waynesburg, PA 15370 Shane M. Ayers, Director. There will be additional visitation at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Fairall United Methodist Church, 583 White Barn Rd., Waynesburg, PA 15370 with Pastor James Dolo officiating.
