Hello, I don't know why he popped in my mind just now, but I decided to look him up to find this unfortunate news. He was an amazing man. I'll forever be grateful for this kind man that paid for the new kid from New York to go on a field trip when my parents couldn't afford for me to go. I never forgot that memory or him. I hope he's resting peacefully and someday we'll meet again and he remembers me the way I've always remembered him. R.I.P. Mr Gensler. 

Dearest Joy and Anne,
Bill and I go way back (almost 60 years) as we met prior to high school in summer band! We were always in the same home room (Gensler/Graham) and in many of the same college prep classes! After graduating college, we became teaching colleagues, plus working with the youth in church! I do remember Joy when he was dating you and he would speak of you affectionately, then engaged and married and then Anne , you were the “apple of his eye”! One of the last times that I had much of a conversation with Bill was st the Rite Aid. He shared with me how the family was doing and that Francis was going to be 99 if my memory serves me well! It was great to see him! He was always a kind, gentle man with a huge heart! God’s blessings to the family and I know he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him! He is with our Jesus now and sharing his favorite stories with Him.

Please know that Bill will be fondly remembered. I recall being placed in Mr. Gensler’s room as I entered second grade, and being so terrified to have a male teacher for the first time ever! Spoiler alert: this was East Ward we’re talking about; the other second grade teacher was also male. Nonetheless, I still speak of Mr. G. today, as he became one of my very favorite teachers. He taught me cursive, he was the first to really teach me about Indians (I still have a photo from a class project, with a good deal of us dressed up,) and he taught me that if you REALLY have to use the restroom and both “keys” are gone; to get to moving anyway! After I had my own son, I was very excited to have run into Bill for introductions. Sending my condolences during this difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. 

So sorry to Joy and the family for your loss... and a significant loss for all of Waynesburg.  Bill was such a kind and caring man.  I loved hearing the stories about Waynesburg and the old family friendships from his childhood.

Mrs. Gensler and daughter,   My husband and I met Bill at the car shows, very sorry for your loss.   I lost my husband Oct.22, 2017.   You have my prayers and sympathy.

I am very sorry for your loss.  Bill was a wonderful teacher for my oldest daughter Michelle. Thru that encounter at our little East Ward School I was able to be a parent helper and get to know Bill. 
His passion for his students, not only in teaching, but showing each other respect and manners in his classroom was outstanding.  One fun memory was the end of the year celebration with a teachable moment at the parks and ending with pizza making! 

Years later we reconnected as Lions club members and our motto "We Serve" is the kind of person Bill represented.  He was always willing to take on a project and see it through to the end.  His love for his home he showed by giving his time, talent and financially to so many things in Greene County.

Mr. Gensler was my second grade teacher at East Ward. He had such a profound influence on my life.  He was kind, generous,  and an amazing teacher.   I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. He was loved and admired by many.
