

He was born July 3, 1942 in Waynesburg a son of the late John W. and Irene Walkosak Burgess.
He attended Waynesburg High School and graduated from truck driver training in Maryland.
Mr. Burgess worked for 29 years as a truck driver for Jacobs Petroleum Products at Waynesburg.
He attended St. Ann Catholic Church in Waynesburg.
He enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, and hunting.
Surviving are his wife Lila Rogers Burgess, whom he married February 19, 1971; one son, Joseph “Mojo” Burgess Jr. of Waynesburg; a daughter Chastity Lee (Greg) of Brave; four stepchildren, Veronica Vedis of Greensboro, Carl Vedis of Shreveport, LA, Sue Augustine of Jefferson, and William Vedis Jr. of Blacksville, WV; several grandchildren, including Dominique Baker, Quinton Baker, and Sarah Rome; several great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Charles E. Burgess of Tuscumbia, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are 2 brothers, James W. Burgess and Chester S. Burgess.
Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg where a blessing service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 with Rev.
